Glenn Dale is one of the unincorporated but census designated places in Prince George’s County.Occupying a total area of 7.2 square miles, it is home to nearly 20000 individuals. Dominant race in its population makeup are White Americans comprising nearly half of the total. Households are generally comprised of families with children under 18 living with them. 

Education within the area is served by the Prince George’s County Public Schools System. There is one elementary school, a middle school, and a high school. Higher education can be obtained from the nearby cities which are easily accessible through the available public transport systems. There are also private schools serving the area.

Glenn Dale has its own share of being in the spotlight of news and history. For some time, it was home to the highly beneficial Glenn Dale Hospital which was a tuberculosis sanitorium. In 1982, it closed its doors to the public because of asbestos contamination. In 2011, it was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. To date, there are plans of its eventual demolition.
