As pleasant and optimistic as its name, the city of Seat Pleasant is a true seat of pleasant living. This city located immediate east of Washington D.C. is one of the prides of Prince Georges County in Maryland. From its humble beginnings as an estate to being a farm and rural area and later as a developing railroad district, the city is now known to be a smarter city as what its city government is bannering on its information campaigns. The city is tapping the use of IBM’s Intelligent Operations Center (IOC) to aid in the financial, political, and social needs. 

Despite being on the road to a smarter city, it still retains the commitment to be a city that is conducive and cozy. It is still a city wherein visitors will enjoy every minute spent. It maintains various recreation spots where residents and guests can channel their fun-seeking alter-egos.

The city is also ranked among one of the most livable cities in Florida. The local real estate industry has the median home price at $174100 while median rental price is at $1119. Depending on the lifestyle and paying capacity of an individual, the city offers diverse types of homes and apartments ranging from studio types to multi-family homes to condos and other luxury dwelling places.

As one of the smart cities, economy is one factor that influences the living conditions in the city. One driving factor that makes the city traverse the path of continuous progress is the high employment rate which as of this writing is marked at 96%. Most jobs are from the sales and office administration industries although an estimate of nearly 16% of the industries in Seat Pleasant is rom the educational services, social assistance, and health care.

Education is also a measure of a city’s growth as mirrored by the literacy rates of its residents. More than 4.9% of the residents have high school diplomas while 13.7% finished their college degrees. For career advancements and promotions, still 4.9% are undergoing their post graduate courses.

Occupying a total land area of 1.83 square kilometers, Seat Pleasant is home to four elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. These are apart from the private schools and specialized learning or training centers in the city’s premises.

Crime rates significantly dropped in percentage from the previous year. This is an evidence that the city is an ideal place to start building one’s future particularly those who are planning to have families of their own.
